Canadian Paraplegic Association (Saskatchewan) Inc. mission is to assist people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities to achieve independence, self-reliance and full community participation.
Nationally, the Association began at the end of World War II when veterans returned home with varying degrees of paralysis. These veterans wanted to carry on with their lives and return to their communities as contributing members of society. A number of veterans mobilized and organized the Canadian Paraplegic Association in May 1945.
In 1964, CPA Saskatchewan was founded by a number of local veterans.
Today, we continue to provide rehabilitation services for people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities, and continue the tradition of members helping members through the Peer Support Program.
CPA’s core services are:
- Peer Support
- Rehabilitation Counselling
- Vocational/Employment Counselling
- Case Management
- Information Services
- Community Advocacy
